ACADEMICS

Grades are a priority. Each athlete is expected to commit to both their academics and cheerleading. If you are struggling (D,F) you will be required to attend weekly study hall or sit out during practice to complete homework and study. An athlete may be removed from an upcoming team performance/ activity in order to focus on grades.

Refer to the cheer handbook for the full academic policy

ATTENDANCE

  • Cheerleading is a team sport. Without everyone present, the team cannot accomplish its goals. Practice is MANDATORY, and absences should be avoided whenever possible. Any absence or tardiness result in the entire squad being inconvenienced. Please consider the other members of the team when coordinating schedules.

  • Coaches work hard to respect and accommodate families, school etc. when setting a practice schedule. Once a schedule is set, we expect the same level of respect and consideration for the teams’ time. When considering missing a practice, please keep teammates and the progress of the team in mind.

  • Cheerleaders with more then two unexcused absences from the team are subject to dismal.

  • School is a top priority for every athlete. However, procrastinated schoolwork is not an excuse to miss practice. Please plan ahead!

    • If a cheerleader must be late to practice to for making up a test, they need to give the coach 24 hour’s notice and bring a note from the teacher.

  • An email must be sent to the coach as soon as you know of any absences or any planned late arrivals. If it is an emergency, a parent must call or text the coach as soon as possible.

  • If a cheerleader will miss more than 3 consecutive days of participation due to illness or injury, a doctor’s note is required in order for the absence to be excused.

  • Cheerleaders should not hold any job or membership in any extracurricular activity that interferes with the participation of any cheerleading requirement without coach approval.

  • If an athlete is not feeling well (i.e. headache, sinus infections, allergies) they are still required to come to practice. They will sit out on the side and watch, which will keep them up to speed on changes.

  • Athletes can not miss a practice for any reason two weeks prior to a competition. Extra practices during competition season will be Mandatory.
